Recently, a friend of ours was researching flying with her daughter who has severe food allergies. She was nervous about wiping down the plane seats, because her daughter could have a reaction just being in contact with residue or near the foods she is allergic to. Talk about stressful parenting!!! The research she did to help make things as safe as possibe on their multiple flights from the US to New Zealand, led her to this amazing product by Planesheets.com!!!
Leslie Danelion and Rick Berge, whose relationship began as a long distance relationship with numerous flights between Minneapolis and Los Angeles, are the masterminds behind this great product. With so much flying, they were subjected to unclean airplane seats so often, that they ended up making a cover to use…now their idea has grown into a successful company that helps so many people address cleanliness on flights, as well as lower the risk of coming into contact with allergens. Smart smart smart!!!
If you, or someone you know flys often, or needs something to aid in the protection from allergens while flying, check these out!! They are available as reusable, washable plane seat covers, or disposable covers! Mama Jen

My husband and I are so excited that our daughter is going to be the flower girl in her cousin’s wedding next year! It is such an honor that she was asked. She shares in our excitement, but doesn’t “get” what she will be doing. We attempt to explain that she will be a little princess throwing flower petals etc. using grandiose hand gestures and enacting crazy skits—She just likes the excitement!
I came home yesterday to the most thoughtful and adorable gift for her which solves this elusive idea of what it is to be a Flower Girl.
There is a book in the Babar series called “Isabelle the Flower Girl.” My cousin put a cute personal touch in the first two blank pages which is sooo creative! She put a picture of her and her fiance together and then a picture of each of them with our daughter and wrote about them getting married and them wanting our daughter to be the flower girl. What a touching keepsake!!!
The book has a wonderful story that really gives our daughter a way to figure this whole thing out. She absolutely adores it and it is read a couple of times a day… Thoughtful, perfect, sweet, and full of Mom Appeal! If you are looking for a gift for a flower girl, nothing could be better than this! Oh yeah! If you are looking for a book for a Ring Bearer check this one out. Mama Jen

Recently, there has been more research concerning plastics that contain the hormone disrupting Bisphenol A (BPA) . This caused me to go through my daughter’s sippy cups, my reusable water bottles and other food and drink related plastics. So far, I threw away any plastics that have a recycling number 7, and it was quite a trash pile. I also found our water jug that we pay for monthly is a number 7 and it is quite worn since it gets reused. The more worn BPA plastics are, the more it allows the chemical to leach into your beverage more easily.
This article from a Chicago newspaper, describes the concerns about BPA well, and how some companies aren’t waiting for government intervention, such as Medela, and are choosing to stop using the BPA containing plastics.
This article recommends you only use 4, 5, 1, and 2 for food and to avoid 3, 6 and 7 unless they are a new bio-based plastic labeled as such.
Overwhelming yes, and I am of the mind that a lot of times there is a scare for a whole lot of nothing, but this chemical that is in baby bottles, sippy cups etc seems unacceptable.
The solutions can be pricey, at least for now, but I believe it will be better for my family. I ordered some Klean Kanteen stainless steel sippys and two water bottles for my workouts. They look great, come highly recommended, are super lightweight and will last longer than any plastic I could buy. As your child grows, you can change the top of the cup to a sports top, screw-on cap, or looped top. Easy to clean, and healthy! I have also found some safe plastic bottles and sippy cups by Born Free, at www.newbornfree.com. I believe that Whole Foods also carries the Born free brand. When my daughter would take an occasional bottle, I used the Playtex Drop-in system which is affordable, and free of BPA as well.
So—check your plastics, decide what you are comfortable with, and happy shopping! Mama Jen

I saw Monkeybar Buddies recently and think they are sooooo cute and practical for the active little girls who love dresses and skirts! Perfect for the playground!! Great for the young, carefree girlie girls to not have someone be able to shout “I see London, I see France…!”
Also check out the adorable leggings that can help bring dresses and skirts into the cooler seasons ahead with a chic layered look. Just look at that cute bow detail at the bottom of the shorts and leggings too!
Monkeybar Buddies are a fab idea!!!! We’ll definitely be getting these!

On a recommendation from a fellow mom, I went and bought my daughter a pair of See Kai run shoes, and I am soooo happy with them! Previously, my little lady kept tripping in her cheap-o sandals I bought her, so I thought that since she is still new to walking, I should go with something a little more ergonomic…functional AND ADORABLE! These sure fit the bill!Great for your kids or as a gift for a tot you love!

Wow….we found another fabulous company called Baby Jar with products you just MUST have for your little ones!
Baby Jar carries the most heavenly blankets I have ever come into contact with. I have the Pink Polka Dot & Fuchsia crib blanket, and when it arrived for my daughter, I stole the first night to snuggle with it!! Selfishness warmed over me at first touch of this thing… First of all, as the website claims, the blanket is big and scrumptious—so rare to find a large, ultra soft blanket for toddlers…toddlers need soft too! This blanket is the absolute softest and most luxurious baby blanket ever—period! Whenever I go to check on my daughter while she is sleeping, she is cuddled up in such a way that her body is cuddled, and her face is ALWAYS on this blanket…sooooooo cuddly and soft!!
The other little treat that we have is the very brilliant and wonderfully styled Dot’olicious Snuggle-ette! It combines super soft plush fabric on one side, and ultra-silky on the other—and it is all of 15” by 17.” Fantastic for the babe who always wants a security item with them, and practical for the parent who only has so many places to stash the ever-so-important ”lovey” while on the go! The size is key here.
Baby Jar was created by sisters Jessica Shiffman and Racheal Shapiro for today’s “funky, fun and fabulous” babies and their fashion conscious parents. In fact, some of the fashion conscious celebrity parents who bought these amazing products are, Gwen Stefani, Tobey Maguire, Jamie Pressly, Adam Sandler and Tori Spelling. Their swanky soft blankets and burpies don the shelves of ultra-hip Kitson Kids in Los Angeles as well as other uber-hip joints across the nation!

Sue Byrne and her daughter-in-law Ann Marie Byrne who run room threads can do that for you—and with tons of style!!!
Check out the detailed Dragon sheet set for your wild child!!

I absolutely love it!!
Then, for the softer at heart, there is the great Dress-Up style sheet set…soooo sweeeet!!
I also adore the Flip-Flop, Crabby, and Oar styles as well. I think they can be fantastic for adults too—I am going to have to show these to my mother who just built a northwoods cabin! How cute would those styles I just mentioned be on the beds up there??!!!
The skill that these women have is apparent. Wonderful edging, and high quality embellishments will not be uncomfortable when they touch even the most sensitive skin.
They also make custom crib bedding for those of you, who, like me, couldn’t find anything in the stores that fit what I was looking for. Add to that custum changing pads, teething cloths, bibs and burp cloths, and you are set!
If you want the extra personalization, spring for a name to be added to the sets. Great way to transition a fussy toddler to their “own” bed!
Currently, you can order directly through roomthreads.com–great customer service by the way–or find these sets included in hip online boutiques such as Maddie’s Closet, Rosenberry Rooms, Baby’s In Style and Angeli Boutique.
Why not add some Mom Appeal with a little “room frosting!” Mama Jen

Ali Wing, giggle CEO and founder, always says “We do the homework so new parents can giggle.” And giggle I did when I looked at all of the wonderful, unique, and chic items available at egiggle.com for new parents and their babies! And they really do their homework—check out the giggle criteria for each product–what a snazzy way to inform consumers!
I requested a couple of items to see in person, and they are fabulous!!

I got the chance to check out the Decortive Wood Wall Panels (set of 4), and boy are they a treat!! Covered in a wonderful modern pattern, they attach to any clean surface so that you can custom decorate your nursery or playroom! I am a person who gets bored easily, so being able to change the pattern upon the wall is perfect for me! The older your child gets, they can have fun deciding where they want them placed on the wall too!
I also got to see two of the lovely aprons they carry for the mini-person in your life!

The first one is by Mimi the Sardine, and it is adorable!! Covered with cute little graphic bugs and an environmentally sound, non-toxic acrylic coating that meets the Oeko-Tex 100 Standard, it is permanently water and soil resistant—best thing—it is sooooo soft, and not at all stiff!! Wipe clean or machine wash! Great for your mini gardener!!

The second apron is the Organic Cotton Veggie apron by Under the Nile, and I wish you could feel just how soft it is! This fair-traded organic product would be wonderful for your little gardener, or veggie washer!!
The fact that all of these wonderful high-end products are bundled together in one hip and chic store, and that the homework is done for you has loads of Mom Appeal!! Mama Jen

Check out this handy tote that you can take to the beach with you!!
It has a flexible and removable solar panel that is connected to a charging port–just like the one in your car—plug in your camera, cell, GPS, PDA, MP3 player etc and you are good to go!
Never miss that great shot of your family, or an important phone call at the beach again! (Note to Paris Hilton: you’ll never miss a chance to phone Barbara Walters while on the go—-or run…)
Be creative…take it on a hike, camping, out on the boat, etc…you’ll have the opportunity to charge your all-important devices…
The ingenuity and convenience of this bag has tons of Mom Appeal! Mama Jen
